How can I use AI without giving up my own judgment?

TideProof editorial guide · Reviewed 2026-09-14

Make your purpose and decision criteria clear before asking for suggestions. That gives you something to compare the answer against. You can use AI to broaden your options while keeping the choice, the context, and the responsibility with you.

Ask what assumptions an option depends on and what information might change it. Write down why you selected or rejected it in your own words. For an important decision, consult people and sources beyond the tool. The goal is better-informed judgment, not automatic agreement with the most polished answer.
