What is an AI model?

TideProof editorial guide · Reviewed 2026-09-14

An AI model is a trained system that processes information and produces outputs. An app may use a model as one component, alongside search, saved settings, account controls, and other software. The model and the complete product are not the same thing.

For everyday use, the practical question is whether the whole tool serves your task well. A capable model inside a confusing or unreliable app may not help you much. Compare results, ease of use, privacy choices, and cost rather than choosing only by a model name.
