How do I explain AI use in a job application?

TideProof editorial guide · Reviewed 2026-09-14

Follow the employer's instructions and describe your work honestly. If AI helped organize or edit your material, you still need to check the facts and make sure the result represents you. Do not claim generated examples as things you personally did.

When tool use is relevant or disclosure is requested, explain the task, your contribution, and how you reviewed the output. For example, you might say you used a tool to improve clarity while keeping all experience and claims your own. The important point is accountable use, not pretending assistance never occurred.
