Does AI understand me the way a person does?

TideProof editorial guide · Reviewed 2026-09-14

An AI assistant can respond in ways that look understanding, but that is not the same as knowing your life or sharing a person's lived experience. It works from what you provide and whatever other information its system can access.

You can make the interaction more useful by explaining your goal, circumstances, and important limits. For example, wanting a new career while caring for a parent is different from having unrestricted time to retrain. Correct the assistant when its assumptions do not fit you.
