How can a freelancer use AI without becoming generic?

TideProof editorial guide · Reviewed 2026-09-14

Use AI to support the work around your expertise, while keeping the client's situation at the center. Your value may come from understanding the problem, making good choices, communicating clearly, and delivering a result that fits. A generic output alone is easy for others to reproduce.

Take one service you offer and identify where your judgment changes the outcome. Use AI on a supporting step, then show how you reviewed and adapted it. Be clear about relevant tool use and respect client agreements. Compete on useful results and trust, not just on producing more material.
